This policy explains what information we collect through this website, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to stepandco's website and covers the contact form and our use of Google Analytics.
Who we are
This website is run by Step & Co, a building and roofing company based in Bromley, Kent. If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your information, you can reach us at
stepandcoltd@gmail.com or on 07307 218723.
Information we collect
When you fill in our contact form to request a quote, we collect the details you give us. That's usually your name, phone number, email address, postcode, the type of work you need, and anything you write in the message field.
We also collect some information automatically when you browse the site. This includes things like which pages you visit, how long you spend on them, what device and browser you're using, and roughly which area you're visiting from. This is gathered through Google Analytics (GA4), which is covered in more detail below and in our
Cookie Policy.
How we use your information
We use the details from your quote request to get back to you about your enquiry, arrange a site visit if needed, and provide you with a quote for the work.
We use the analytics data to understand how people use the site, which pages are helpful, and where we can improve things. We don't use this information to identify you personally.
We don't sell your information to anyone, and we don't pass it on to third parties except where it's needed to run the site (such as our web hosting and analytics providers) or where we're required to by law.
Google Analytics (GA4)
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use this site. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect information such as pages visited, time spent on the site, and general location based on IP address. We don't use Google Analytics to try to identify individual visitors.
Google processes this data on our behalf. You can read more about how Google handles data in their own privacy policy at
policies.google.com/privacy.
If you'd rather not be tracked by Google Analytics on any site, Google provides a browser add-on that opts you out. You can find it at
tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
How long we keep your information
We keep quote enquiry details for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry, and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you get back in touch or for our own records. We don't keep it longer than we need to.
Analytics data is retained according to Google's standard retention settings for GA4, which is typically a rolling period of a couple of years.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct anything that's wrong, ask us to delete your information, and object to how we're using it.
If you'd like to exercise any of these rights, just get in touch using the details above. If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at
ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we start using a new tool or service on the site. Any changes will be posted here with an updated date at the top of the page.
